Welcome!!!!!!

The Eastern Mass YMCA Swim League is open to any YMCA in the Eastern Mass area. On any given year we have 23-26 teams participating.

The teams are divided by size and ability, and we keep team philosophy in mind as well. Teams compete in a dual meet season from November – January, and the season culminates in the annual Barbara Damon District Championships held over 2 weekends in late January and early February.

The dual meet season emphasizes competition between age groups and incorporates the Y values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. Records for Boys and Girls in each age group are kept through the season, and trophies are awarded at Districts for the teams with the best records.

The Championship Meet is an opportunity for swimmers to compete in a different format, and experience the excitement of a Championship meet. Teams compete by class, points are awarded and trophies are given to the team with the most points in each class.

Post Championship meets include the New England YMCA Swimming Championships held each year in March, and the National YMCA Short Course Swimming Championships held each year in April at the International Swimming Hall of Fame in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Some teams get together in the summer for a less formal summer league which is organized by the coaches. The National YMCA hosts the National YMCA Long Course Swimming Championship in late July and early August.

If your Y is interested in becoming a part of this exciting swimming experience, please contact me.

Thank you,
Elaine Kurkul
